If you could bare witness to any specific Long Island event what would it be?
Here is mine:
I would be on George Washington's entourage as he toured Long Island in April of 1790. Just imagine seeing the Island as it was before the industrial revolution, yet with full settlement.

I would have liked to see the Battle of Ft. Saint George in Mastic and the Burning of the Hay at Coram.

That is a great old story. I too wonder how much of it is true, and how much of it was exaggerated.

1986 World Series, game 6....Mookie Wilson soft hit roller through Bill Buckners legs, while "Congratulations Boston Red Sox 1986 World Champions" had already flashed on the Diamondvision and Ray Knight came around to score the winning run.

I was alive, but only 3 years old....my first Mets game wasn't until '88. Fortunately I did get to see a lot of amazing history at Shea before it was torn down, but nothing that epic.

I love the Mets, I am always for the underdogs. I only got to see a game at Shea once though.
